Thoughts on my day...

Right now I am in my kitchen, the oven is baking some very yummy lactation cookies. They are simply wonderful. I am a nursing mom, we are almost 9 1/2 months strong, my son and I. Abigail and I went 14 1/2 months. The Tuesday I found out I was pregnant with Stone was the last time her and I nursed. I wanted some time not nursing - if you have never nursed you won't understand. While nursing is a great bond, a wonderful connection with your child, your body is still not your body. For women who are unable to nurse or decide not to, you can reclaim your body as soon as the decision is made. But if you do decide to nurse you are restricted - medications you can take, foods you can eat and beverages you can consume. Anything that you put into your body can go into your baby's body. Stone has until his first birthday, which is 5 days after my 30th. Then my body is mine!

Today was an interesting day. I started it heavily sleep deprived. I had that one glorious night of sleep a few days back and oh how I cherish it. I love my son, but I am ready for this growth spurt or these teeth that I cannot see to come on in. This waking numerous times a night is getting old.

I taught my first CPR class this morning. It wasn't bad, I was a bit rough, but will improve with experience. I am grateful for the ladies who attended from work.

My sweet parents watched my children today. And go figure, best naps ever! They always sleep so great over there. Stone has completely stopped using a bottle now, we have a cup that works and that he will drink from. Both kids are just blossoming before my eyes. Abigail is working these days on tracing her letters, she loves singing church nursery songs, and loves playing in the water. Stone is now more confidently pulling himself up into a standing position. I believe I will have a walker here soon!

As a family of four we ran some errands together. I am hosting a table at church this upcoming week and needed a few decorative items. I had the vision of kinda cheesy summer themed but Hobby Lobby is decked out for autumn and Christmas already! We haven't even hit 100* yet (heat index yes!) but I guess that is retail. So I am going with sunshine and yellow. I am excited and think it will look great. And then of course we hit up the grocery store for fresh produce and other odds and ends to get us through this next week.

My dad left Colorado this morning and made it past Amarillo. He should be here tomorrow or Monday mid day. We are excited and ready to start this new chapter with him. I am so grateful he came out victorious with his heart attack. That was a gut clenching, heart wrenching experience that I never want to repeat. When he gets here it will be the first time for him to meet his grandson, and I cannot wait to capture the meeting.

We had a joyful evening. Brock grilled fajitas (he is awesome!!!), Abigail played in the water sprinkler, Stone rolled around in his walker and I pulled weeds out of the driveway.

There was nothing spectacular about today - but it was a beautiful day that captured our life. Time with family, help from family, continuing to improve ourselves, and so much more. Days like today I will cherish in my heart as long as I live.
