A Spirit of Giving

I believe in giving. My time, my skills, my money, you name it, if able I will give. I want my children to appreciate giving. I want them to grow up and have giving being apart of their everyday lives.

A day or so ago I saw online a need. Someone I know was asking for something for someone I do not know. And I am in a position to give to meet this need so I am doing so. I was only going to give a little but then I thought why not more? The person in need isn't asking for much and I have more than enough of what is needed. So I gave a third of what I had on hand for them.

After I decided to go ahead and give more than I originally intended, this verse came to my mind:

Luke 6:38 (NKJV)

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

So what do you have that you can give? God call's us to give and to do so with a joyful heart:

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV)
So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
