For those of you that are unaware, my dad had a heart attack a while back (May) and we decided to move him in with us. We had already discussed him mobbing in with us at a later date, but with the heart attack we moved things forward. Luckily he has now met his grandson (who was born about 4 days or so after my dad went back to Colorado - Stone was just not done cooking).
So with my dad arriving around 2:30 verses the evening or even today, we went home after first service yesterday and got busy. We had a few items we needed to still tend to, plus two children who needed love, lunch and naps.
I had a passage in mind, and might post it later, but my mind was changed when I heard a testimony in my Sunday School class. A woman I have never met visited our class and heard a message on the storm's of life. She shared her story which is very similar to Job of the Bible: mom died, brother murdered, husband deployed, she was diagnosed with cancer (has been healed), daughter diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, husband came back injured and unable to work and daughter then started to have seizures.
In fact this morning her and her daughter are in the hospital trying to figure out why she is having the seizures. Her faith is amazing. She was in church yesterday like it was a normal day. I am not sure I would have been able to sit and focus on God knowing that my child is sick and there have been no answers as to why. She admitted that her life is falling apart but with God there is a reason.
What caught me the most is where she said that everything we go through, everything the enemy throws at us, he has to go to God first and get permission before coming after us. So all her family is going through, God is allowing it. What perspective! And she is right.
Job 1:6-12 (NKJV)
Satan Attacks Job’s Character
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. 7 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?”So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”
9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”
12 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.”
So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.
As hard as it is to bear if we are going through something, God is allowing, He has faith in us to endure.
