Last week my class finished up the May Day series by Anne Graham Lotz. I highly recommend the series to anyone who wants to prepare for the day of the Lord. We are in the end times, and God is being a true gentleman by giving us warnings of what is to come. We only have to pay attention.
So, Melissa refreshed herself on the series and stayed within the minor prophets. We reviewed the entire book of Haggai. A very small book in the Bible but it was good for us to hear the message in it. Haggai is great outline for recharging your passion for the Lord. Doing the same thing over and over can result in life, and your walk with the Lord, becoming stale. Haggai can lead you to reorganize your priorities, refocus your perspective, lead you to repent of your sin and reclaim your privilege.
There are a few verses that really spoke to me from the scripture:
- 1v5, Now therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.
- 2v4, Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:
- 2v19, Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.
God always directs our way and if we obey he "rewards" us. From these verses we can get the following:
Consider your ways - we need to think about what we are doing. Are we honoring God, are we obeying His Word? Or, are we focused on ourselves?
Be strong & work - God will provide our strength and we need to follow through and do the work He has assigned us.
From this day I will bless you - if we return our focus to God, do as He says, He will remove from us the droughts, the hard times, and the famines we are going through and will bless us. (This doesn't mean we won't have hard times, but that we will feel His presence with us through those times when they come).
